ONGC finds gas in Jaisalmer basin

New Delhi, Nov 29 (UNI) Country's flagship oil explorer Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) today said it has discovered gas in the Jaisalmer basin in Rajasthan.

''We have found gas in the Jaisalmer basin in Rajasthan,'' ONGC Director (Exploration) D K Pande told reporters on the sidelines of the 6th Petro India 2007 on India's Changing Gas Scenario: The new imperative.

This is the third or fourth discovery in the region, he added.

''We have tested one zone and the second zone is under testing ... within two to three weeks we will know the indications (on the exact potential of the find),'' Mr Pande said.

This block was awarded to the company before the country moved to a regime of auctioning its oil and gas exploration blocks, he added.
