NEUPA draws Educational Development Index

Shillong, Nov 29 (UNI) The Ministry of Human Resource Development has implemented various programmes for universalisation of elementary education in the country, a release stated here today To assess the progress of states and UTs in this regard, the National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NEUPA) have drawn up an Educational Development Index (EDI), based on parameters like access, infrastructure, teacher related indicators and elementary education outcomes.

Among the NE states, Arunachal Pradesh ranks the highest in the composite index for primary and upper primary level of education based on 2005-06 data.

The capacity building of educationally backward states through trainings and workshops had also been undertaken especially in components in which these state were not performing well.
