Kalam attributes lack of research work to financial constraints

Durgapur, Nov 29 (UNI) Former President A P J Abdul Kalam today attributed lack of research work to paucity of funds and said, '' We have to pay values to the basic science and basic research. '' Speaking at the inaugural function of the International conference on Advanced Manufacturing Technology (TCAMT) here, Dr Kalam said, '' We do not have sufficient uranium. So we have to think about thorium. At the same time we need clean enviornment. '' He said, '' We want a government, which should be corruption-free and which will provide basic healthcare to all classes. There should be no division like rural and urban. '' Earlier, Dr Kalam inaugurated a two-day-long ICAMT conference, where some big industries took part.

The conference was aimed at throwing light on contemporary scientific and technological developments in the fields of Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) and Near Net Shape (NNS) manufacuring technologies.
