Infosys to pump in Rs 800 crore more

Kolkata, Nov 29(UNI) IT major Infosys Technologies would pump in Rs 800 crore more in the current fiscal taking the total investment for expansion to Rs 1,600 crore.

" Total investment during the current year would be Rs 1600 crore. During the past two quarters, Rs 800 crore had been pumped in, " Infosys member of the board T V Mohandas Pai today said.

He said Infosys was building the country's largest educational complex at Mysore with an investment of Rs 1500 crore and it was expected to be completed by March.

The company was expanding its centres with Pune being billed for becoming larger than the Bangalore centre, he said.

Pune workforce capacity would be about 24,000 by June, 2008 as against 23,000 in Bangalore, Mr Pai said.

During the current fiscal, Infosys was aiming at a headcount of 30,000 headcount. In the last year it added 31,000.

At present Infosys operates from ten locations in the country.

Jaipur is the latest new centre which will come up in the near future.
