CRP to handle court security in Varanasi

Varanasi, Nov 29 (UNI) Following the recent bomb blasts that shook the city's court, security at the Collectorate and the Court premises here would be beefed up and handed over to Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

The decision was taken yesterday during a meeting of District Judge Chandra Deo Rai, Chief Judicial Magistrate Shiv Kumar Singh, District Magistrate Veena, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) S B Siradkar along with the Bar Association office - bearers.

Barring vehicles of judicial, administrative and police officers, entry of all other vehicles would be prohibited in the court and collectorate premises, sources said today.

Separate arrangements of vehicle parking would be made outside both the premises.

Besides, metal detectors and CCTVs would be installed on the main gates of the court and the collectorate.

One sub-inspector and four constables of the CRPF would be deployed at the main gates, the sources said adding that informing, PAC and civil police would be deployed at the CJM and district headquarters gate.

One sub-inspector and four constables would be on round-the- clock vigil on the court premises.

Meanwhile, lawyers have decided to continue to boycott the work till tomorrow in the backdrop of the bomb blast in the Varanasi court on November 23 that claimed nine lives and wounded over 51 others.
