CBI court sentences two in bribery case

New Delhi, Nov 29 (UNI) A CBI Special Court today sentenced Balbir Singh , an executive engineer and Anil Kumar, a junior engineer in the Irrigation Department to three and two-and-a-half year imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 35,000 and 15,000 on them respectively.

CBI Special Judge Vinod Goel convicted and sentenced the accused.

Anil Kumar was caught red handed on February 27, 2001 by CBI while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 on behalf of Balbir Singh from Mr Sanjeev Kumar.

Mr Kumar, who ran an NGO for flood affected victims, had approached the duo for securing relief for the victims affected by Yamuna floods.

Balbir Singh had demanded a sun of Rs 100,000 for releasing the aid.
