Ballia Lok Sabha by-poll on Dec 29

Lucknow, Nov 29 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) today announced the schedule for the Ballia Lok Sabha by-election in Uttar Pradesh.

The seat fell vacant after the death of former prime minister Chandrashekhar.

While notification for the election would be issued on December four, the last day to file nomination is December 11, UP Chief Election Officer (CEO) Anuj Kumar Bishnoi informed here tonight.

Nomination papers would be scrutinised on December 12, while counting of votes would take place on January two, he added.

The CEO said the model code of conduct had been strictly enforced in Ballia district from today.
