2 doctors get seven years term in kidney racket case

Jaipur, Nov 29 (UNI) A lower court here has sentenced seven years term to two doctors and a nurse for their involvement in a kidney racket case.

Judge Prashant Yadav of Fast track court II here awarded, Mumbai- based doctor Basant Fadia, Dr Suresh Gupta of Jaipur and a nurse, Seema Sayid, seven years jail term.

Two other accused Dr Santhosh and Jeevan Dada have been declared 'absconder' yesterday.

The verdict came 12 years after the incident was reported here.

Hussain, a resident of Hyderabad, had filed an FIR in the Sodala police station on November 18, 1995 that the accused doctors had promised him Rs 8000 for donating one of his kidneys to a Siriyan national Mustafa Jadal.

Hussain out of penury agreed and one of his Kidneys was removed after an operation at the Shyam Nursing home in Shyam Nagar. But the doctors failed to keep up their promise of money. On investigation of the incident the police found a large kidney racket and booked the doctors for organ trade.
