State BJP chief, 26 others file nomination papers in HP

Shimla, Nov 28 (UNI) Twenty seven candidates including state BJP chief Jai Ram Thakur filed their nomination papers today for the HP Assembly Elections for which polling would be held on December 19, state Chief Electoral Officer Manisha Nanda said here.

Mr Thkaur filed his papers from the Chachiot constituency of Mandi district.

After the issuing of notification for the 2nd phase of elections in the state on November 23, the process of filing nomination papers started.

Till today total 73 candidates have filed their nominations.

Prominent among those filed their papers today was, Mr Nand Lal, a former SPG officers in the security of Congress president Sonia Gandhi. He filed his papers from the Rampur (SC) constituency as Congress candidate.

Others included former minister Ms Chandresh Kumari of the Congress from Dharamshala, Sanjay Chauhan of CPI from Shimla, Navin Dhiman of the BJP from Pragpur(SC), Vipin Singh Parmar (BJP) from Sulah and Kewal Singh Pathania of the Congress from Shahpur.
