Shillong, Nov 28 (UNI) Meghalaya Speaker Martin M Danggo today asked for the FIR from the police regarding the drunken misconduct of a state legislator Lambor Malngiang.

The state police had sought permission from the Assembly Speaker to arrest Mr Malngiang who allegedly created a ruckus at a rented house owned by one Nita Khongwir on November 9 after she lodged a complaint with the police.

Mr Malngiang is one of the two representatives of Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement in the 60-member Meghalaya House.

'' The news reports regarding the matter is a different thing, but, I have to check the FIR to find out the charges,'' Mr Danggo told reporters here on the sidelines of the ex-legislators meeting today.

Mr Danggo said the delay in taking necessary action was that he wanted to verify the FIR filed in the police station.

He also informed that Malngiang had met him in his office chamber to discuss the matter. ''I advised him to have exemplary behaviour as he is a legislator,'' Danggo said.

''Though, Lambor did not directly admit his role in the incident, there are some indications that he may be involved,'' Mr Danngo said.

The police have registered a case of criminal intimidation, trespassing, common intention, mischief and damage of property, under 506, 427, 448/34 IPC against Malngiang and his friends.

Last week, the Naga Student's Union Shillong had asked seven Naga students to leave Shillong involved in the night partying with the legislator.
