SAD, BJP Coordination Committee meeting held

Chandigarh, Nov 28 (UNI) The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Working President Sukhbir Singh Badal and the state BJP (Punjab Unit) President Rajinder Bhandari will recommend the names of the members of the five boards for trade and industry that the Punjab Government proposes to constitute.

A decision to this effect was taken at the Coordination Committee meeting of the SAD and BJP.

The recommendations will be made to Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. The junior Badal and Prof Bhandari are likely to complete this exercise by December 15.

In another decision, the Committee asked the Co-Operation Minister Capt Kanwaljit Singh and Local Bodies, Industry and Commerce Minister Manoranjan Kalia to start the process of identifying boards and corporations to which chairpersons and other office bearers could be appointed. They will submit a list of these bodies to the Chief Minister for his consideration.

The meeting, held at the Punjab Bhawan was convened by Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal. SAD MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Prof Bhandari, Mr Kalia, Capt Kanwaljit Singh and former SAD MLA Balwinder Singh Bhunder attended the meeting.

Mr Balbir Punj and Mrs Kiran Ghai, incharge and co-incharge respectively of the BJP for Punjab affairs were also present.
