Only experts on Child Rights panel: Atram

Nagpur, Nov 28 (UNI) The government will appoint only experts in its Child Rights Protection Commission, Minister of State for Women and Child Development Dharmaraobaba Atram told the Maharashtra Legislative Council today.

Replying to a half-hour discussion initiated by Dr Neelam Gorhe (Shiv Sena), Mr Atram said that the Commission, which was set up by the state government on July 24, will consist of seven members and all of them will be experts in the field of child rights.

Of the seven members, one had already been appointed, Mr Atram said. The government has set up a three-membered panel to select the remaining members of the commission, he said.

It was the government's policy to end child labour by 2010 and for this purpose, a provision of Rs 18.65 crore has been made, he added.
