Man sentenced to life in prison for killing wife

Shimla, Nov 28 (UNI) A fast track court here today sent a man behind bars for life for murdering his wife.

Additional Sessions Judge, fast track court Shimla, Rajan Gupta, holding Shashi Bahadur of Sham Dhar (Chopal) guilty of murdering his wife, sentenced him to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000.

According to prosecution, on May 13, 2007, Shashi Bahadur's wife Dhan Sari Devi had given him Rs 3000 to go to Shimla to help out their son-in-law, who was ailing there.

Instead of going to Shimla, Shashi Bahadur consumed liquor and later had a quarrel with his wife, who objected to his behaviour.

An inebriated and enraged Bahadur severely beat his wife and strangulated her to death.
