Govt to launch coconut oil promotion campaign

Kozhikode, Nov 28 (UNI) JD(S) leader and Kalpetta MLA M V Sreyamskumar today welcomed Kerala Government's decision to launch a coconut oil promotion campaign in the State.

In a release here, he said, ''it is not too late to propagate the benefits of coconut oil when the palm oil industry has tightened its grip on the hotel and bakery industry in the State.'' Referring to Agriculture Minister Mullakkaran Ratnakaran's annoncement on launching the campaign at Kottayam on December 11, he said it was necessary to take on the false propaganda against the coconut oil unleashed by soyabean lobby in the country.

These kind of campaigns were being undertaken despite the Union Health Ministry endorsing a study report stating that usage of coconut oil was not harmful to health, he added.
