Garden fund worth Rs 257 cr to go waste for want of policy

Mumbai, Nov 28 (UNI) The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) develpment fund worth Rs 257 crore will be unutilised this year, if the new policy on gardens was not passed by this yearend, said the Garden and Market's committee chairman Yeshwant Jadhav today.

Speaking to journalists here, Mr Jadhav said there are more than 1,200 small and big gardens in the city and more than 50 per cent of them are in a very bad shape due to negligence.

He added that a new policy for the gardens should be passed immediately and utilise the funds reserved for gardens by the corporation by this yearend or else the gardens would not be developed.
