Four pilgrims from Kolkata killed in a road accident

Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Nov 28 (UNI) Four pilgrims, including three women hailing from Kolkata were killed and eight others injured, when a van in which they were travelling dashed against a roadside tree at Keezha Perunkarai village near Paramakudi, about 70 kms from here today.

Police said the driver of the van lost his control over the vehicle while overtaking another van, when the accident occurred.

All the pilgrims hailed from Kolkata and were on their way to Rameswaram from Madurai.

Of the deceased, two pilgrims were identified as Majumdar and Nameetha Saha, while the remaining victims were yet to be identified.

The injured were admitted to the government Hospital at Paramakudi, police added.
