AASU, ARSU leaders demand Rabha Accord implementation

Guwahati, Nov 28 (UNI) The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and All Rabha Students' Union (ARSU) today demanded that all clauses of the Rabha Accord of 1995 should be implemented with immediate effect.

Addressing a joint press conference after a meeting between AASU and ARSU leadership here, the leaders said Panchayat polls should not be held in the Rabha Hasong autonomous council area as per provisions in the Rabha Accord.

The press meet was addressed by AASU president Sankar Prasad Rai, general secretray Tapan Gogoi and ARSU president T Rabha.

They urged the government to implement the Accord in the true spirit immediately and said the delay in its implementation was an 'injustice' to the Rabhas.
