Varanasi, Nov 28 (UNI) The 21st conference of the All India Insurance Employees Association (AIIEA) will be held at Kanpur from December 8 to 12.

About 2,500 delegates and observors from 105 LIC divisions are expected to participate in the conference, association national vice-president Rathindra Nath Chakravorty said addressing newspersons here today.

The delegates would discuss various topics, including privatisation of pension funds, slashing of interest on provident fund and other issues related to insurance employees.

He alleged under the pressure of the multi-nationals and the US, the government was planning to increase the FDI limit from 26 to 49 per cent in the insurance sector.

''This would completely ruin the domestic insurance sector,'' he warned.

''Besides, the savings of 22 crore policy holders would be in danger.'' The association would oppose any step of the government that poses danger to the existence of the country's insurance companies.
