Slum dwellers will be rehabilitated in city
Chandigarh, Nov 27 (UNI) To make the 'City Beautiful' slum free within the next three years, a Slum Rehabilitation Policy under Chandigarh Small Flats Scheme 2006 is being implemented by the Union Territory Administration.
The project has been approved by the Government of India under Jawahar Lal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.
Under the scheme, all slum dwellers living in 18 slums in Chandigarh will be eligible for allotment of one room small flats to be constructed by the Chandigarh Housing Board.
Small flats will be given to the slum dwellers on rental basis for 20 years, after which they will have option of getting the ownership rights.
