Sanjay Dutt 'Fasting' on occasion of 'Angarki Chathurthi'

Pune, Nov 27 (UNI) Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt started the day by fasting on the occasion of 'Angarki Chathurthi'' and his fervent prayers seemed to have paid off as the Supreme court granted him bail today.

The actor was engaged in making cane chairs at Yerawada Jail when the news of him securing bail was conveyed to him by his lawyers after 1130 hours. He has been lodged in the Jail since October 22 for the second time after he was convicted to six years RI by a special Tada court under the Arms act in connection with the Serial blasts in Mumbai in 1993. Earlier, on August 20 he was granted interim bail by the pex court as the copy of the Judgement had not been given to him.

This evening, Dutt was in a meeting with his lawyers to discuss the paper work required for his release from the jail.

It may still take at least two days to secure his release as the papers have to come through the TADA Court at Mumbai.

After hearing the news of the actor getting bail, excited fans of Dutt distributed sweets outside the Jail.

Besides Dutt, his friend Yusuf Mohsin Nulwalla and 15 others have also been granted bail.
