KEC International bags Rs 400 crore power transmission projects

New Delhi, Nov 27 (UNI) KEC International Ltd today said it has bagged two power transmission projects in Saudi Arabia and Namibia valued at Rs 400 crore through an international competitive bidding process.

''The turnkey job in Namibia along with a tower supply order obtained earlier in South Africa, marks our full-fledged entry into the South African Development Council (SADC) market,'' company's Managing Director Ramesh Chandak said.

In Saudi Arabia, the contract worth Rs 260 crore and to be completed in 22 months, is for the Saudi Arabian Mining Company (MA'ADEN). It is a turnkey job of 380 KV double circuit transmission lines of 123 kms length connecting Saudi Arabia Electricity Company's substation to MA'ADEN Power Plant Site at Ras Az Zawr, a company statement said.

The company had earlier won a project in Saudi Arabia worth Rs 95 crore in June 2007.

In Namibia, KEC International has been awarded a turnkey job of 350 KV double circuit bipolar HVDC transmission line of 306 Kms from Bagani to Zambezi for NAMPOWER. This project has a completion period of 22 months, the statement added.
