Tripura gets Rs 2.32 crore for rural tourism

Agartala, Nov 26: To promote eco-tourism in Tripura, the Centre has sanctioned Rs 2.32 crore for the development of four tourism circuits in the state.

Official sources here today said the amount would be utilised for the development of rural tourism infrastructure in Joychandrapur (South Tripura) and Durgabari, Malaynagar of Agartala and Devipur, adjacent to the capital city.

The Union Tourism Ministry had sanctioned, in all, 84 projects in 23 states, including Tripura for the infrastructure development at possible destinations of rural tourism, officials stated.

''The project includes Life style of typical Indian villages, exhibits rural crafts, handicrafts and handlooms,'' officials said adding that special project for remote area development would be initiated by the Ministry in next phase.
