Target far from achieved under Indira Awas Yojana

Moradabad, Nov 26 (UNI) The target of over 11,250 housing units under the Indira Awas Yojana for the rural poor in four districts of Moradabad division is achieved with only 3,754 houses constructed so far.

This is despite the fact that ample funds had been allocated for this, sources told UNI.

As many as 43 lakh families were identified living Below Poverty Line (BPL) during a state census.

Rs 560 lakh were sanctioned to the Moradabad district under the scheme, but only 911 houses were built out of the targeted 3,821 units till now.

In Rampur district, Rs 305 lakh were sanctioned and 691 units erected out of the targeted 2,214 houses.

Similarly, in J P Nagar district, 467 Indira Awas had been constructed out of the proposed 1,495 units, besides allotment of Rs 182 lakh fund.

In Bijnor, Rs 508 lakh were sanctioned and only 1,685 units were constructed out of the targeted 3,785 units.
