Retired APPSC official held for fraud

Hyderabad, Nov 26 (UNI) The city police today arrested a retired employee of Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), who allegedly collected "huge" amount as bribe from 'Group two' service aspirants, promising jobs.

According to a release here, the Central Crime Station (CCS) police arrested G Mohammed Ismail based on a complaint lodged by APPSC Secretary Harpreet Singh.

The accused, while working as Section Officer in the APPSC and after retirement had collected the amount running to several lakhs from prospective candidates, who appeared for the Group II services for Executive and Non-Executive posts by promising them employment through the APPSC.

He allegedly provided "fake" interview letters, admission cards and appointment proceedings prepared by him.

He had also conducted "fake" interviews at the APPSC premises, with the help of one Hakeem and Ashok Reddy, who were absconding.

Efforts were on to trace the two accused, the release added.
