Remedial measures sought on Indians' plight in UAE

Chennai, Nov 26 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi discussed various problems faced by Indian workers in the UAE with Mr Talmiz Ahmad, the Indian Ambassador to that country.

In the meeting chaired by the Chief Minister at the Secretariat this morning, secretary to government, BC, MBC and MW Department, Industries Special Secretary, Tamil Nadu Wakf Board Chairman, Overseas Manpower Corporation Managing Director, Protector of Immigrants and representatives of NGOs discussed the plight of Indians, especially the Tamils, in the Gulf country, with the Ambassador, an official release said here.

The meeting discussed the adoption of disciplinary measures in the issuance of immigration clearances, the precautions to be taken while entering into contracts with employers and the steps taken by the Ambassador to resolve the issue, the release added.
