Power tariff in Kerala revised

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 26 (UNI) Power tariff has been revised in Kerala by sparing the domestic and low tension consumers but withdrawing the 20 per cent concession given to the Railways.

Announcing the revised power tariff, Kerala State Electricity Tariff Regulatory Commission Chairman C Balakrishnan said there will be an increase of 50 paise for certain categories of high tension users.

While low tension industrial users had been spared, the tariff for high tension industrial units had been increased by 50 paise.

There is no change in the domestic slabs, he said and added the tariff for temporary connection had been reduced to Rs 12 from Rs 13.50.

Mr Balakrishnan said there was no change in tariff for agriculture and IT.

Stating that the total deficit was Rs 793.72 crore, he said the Board expected to net an additional revenue of Rs 7.07 crore.

The new tariff would come into effect from December, he added.
