New railway lines on strategic consideration: Cabinet
New Delhi, Nov 26 (UNI) The Union Cabinet tonight approved a proposal for extension of concession available on construction of new lines on strategic consideration to gauge conversion works taken up on strategic consideration.
A resolution would be moved in Parliament by the Railway Minister for adoption of the recommendations contained in paras 23 and 24 of the Railway Convention Committee's Third Report (2004).
The decision would enable the Railway Ministry to implement the recommendations of the convention committee, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters.
The Cabinet also approved the withdrawal of the University Grants Commission (Amendment) Bill, 1995 pending in the Rajya Sabha.
