Majithia says govt committed to development

Amritsar, Nov 26 (UNI) Distributing cheques worth Rs 53 lakh to various villages of Tarsika block, Information and Public Relations and Public Health Minister Bikram Singh Majithia said that the SAD-BJP Government was committed to all round development.

Addressing a public function, he said that the government was carrying on development works despite inheriting a deficit of Rs 52,000 crore from the previous Congress regime.

Mr Majithia assured the people that their would be no stagnation in the development works, while distributing the cheques under various schemes including Indira Awas Yojna and National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NAREGA).

He revealed that Rs 16 crore would be spent for cleaning of village ponds and strengthening of rural roads. He also said that Rs 1280 crore would be spent in Punjab for providing clean drinking water under a World Bank project.

The Minister exhorted the government officers to work honestly and bring transparency in their working.
