Sambalpur, Nov 26 (UNI) Hundreds of land oustees of the Hirakud dam project today sat on a dharna in front of the office of the Revenue Divisional Commissioner, Northern Division, demanding homestead land.

In a memorandum to Chief Minister Navin Patnaik, the oustees said the Chief Minister in 2000 had promised to provide ten decimal of land to all the land oustees irrespective of their financial status or annual income.

Accordingly 1200 families of Sambalpur and Jharsuguda districts had applied to their respective Tehsildars for land.

But the administration in these two districts was not in mood to implement this popular decision of the state government, alleged one Ratna Pruseth and Haradhan Mahana.

They appealed to the Chief Minister to sort out the problem when the dam was going to celebrate its golden jubilee.
