Fourth Gorkha Rifles sesquicentennial celebrations begin

Chandigarh, Nov 26 (UNI) The sesquicentennial (150th Anniversary) celebrations of the First Battalion of the Fourth Gorkha Rifles began today with the flagging in of the Fourth Gorkha Rifles Car Rally at Raina Stadium in Chandimandir Military Station.

Lt Gen (Retd) YM Bammi, ex Commanding Officer of the unit flagged off the rally.

Covering an approximate distance of 900 kms, the rally reached Pithoragarh on November 24 before returning to Chandimandir today.

The flagging in of the car rally was followed up with a Mandir Parade at the Regimental Mandir. Col SK Sharma, Commanding Officer, First Battalion of Fourth Gorkha Rifles offered prayers to the holy deities.

A number of serving and retired dignitaries were present on the occasion.
