Four arrested for possessing rhinoceros horns at Indo-Nepal border

Bagha, Nov 26 (UNI) Troops arrested four smugglers and seized rhinoceros horns worth Rs 21 lakh from their possession near Chamaniya on the Bahga-Balmikinagar main road under Balmikinagar Tiger Project in West Champaran district, adjoining the Indo-Nepal international border.

Seema Suraksha Bal Comandant H R Barot said here today that one of the arrested smugglers - Vishwajit Bhoumik - was from West Bengal while another smuggler - Rambachan Kurmi - hailed from Sohgibarwa of Uttar Pradesh and the rest, namely Paras Mushar and Deep Narayan Ram, were natives of West Champaran district.

Mr Barot said the smugglers, along with the horns, were handed over to the forest conservator.

Assistant forest officer Naresh Prasad said senior forest officials of the Balmikinagar Tiger Project, Chitwan Tiger Project of adjoining Nepal and Sohgibarwa in Uttar Pradesh had arrived here to investigate the matter.
