Jammu, Nov 26 (UNI) Veterans of the three services today came out on the city roads and took out a silent procession in support of their demands for reservation in government jobs, annuity, exemption of VAT in canteens, land for colonies and establishment of a department for them.

A large group of ex-servicemen, led by Jammu and Kashmir Ex-Servicemen League (JKESL) President Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal (Retd), marched towards the Divisional Commissioner's office at Mubarak Mandi Palace complex and submitted a memorandum to the government through the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu.

Maj Gen Jamwal alleged that the Jammu and Kashmir government had ignored the demands of the ex-servicemen since long and they were subjected to many hardships.

The JKESL, he said, has given an ultimatum to the government to respond to their demands by December 31, failing which the ex-servicemen -- over 15 lakh in the state -- might have to boycott the coming assembly elections.
