Dy Jailor suspended in Chhattisgarh

Ambikapur (Chhattisgarh), Nov 26: A deputy jailor was among five prison officials suspended in the wake of three inmates escaping on Friday night from the Central Jail here.

The suspension took place yesterday.

''Deputy Jailor Seewanram Thakur, guards Melaramchandra, Bhaktiprasad, Parmeshwar Puri and Laldhar stand accused of carelessness. Mr Thakur was absent without leave for the past few days,'' Director-General (Prisons) Santkumar Paswan told mediapersons here.

Expressing concern over a recent spurt in inmates' escapes, the officer added that notices were earlier issued in this connection to deputy jailors of Surajpur and Katghora sub-jails.
