Cong demands removal of health minister

Aizawl, Nov 26 (UNI) Mizoram Congress Committee has alleged that there has been no achievements under the Health and Family Welfare department, for which they held Health Minister R Tlanghmingthanga responsible.

''We need 'a more efficient and less corrupt minister' for the health portfolio,'' the Opposition Congress stated today.

''The Mizo National Front(MNF) has been running the government since 1998. The Centre has initiated numerous development programmes for all the states of India, including Mizoram, and sanctioned huge amount of funds,'' Congress spokesman R Vanlalvena said here today.

''However, the Falkawn Referral Hospital (initiated during the Congress ministry) has been ruined (by the MNF government), while the nursing college building constructed at the cost of Rs 70 lakhs is no where to be seen. Neither has the Ayush building taken shape, on which about Rs 65 lakh had reportedly been spent. Not only these, there have been large-scale diversion of funds in the purchase of medical equipment,'' he added.

''It is truly unfortunate to have a minister, who misuses all the funds generously given to us by the Centre,'' he said and added, ''The chief minister should replace the health minister with more efficient and less corrupt person.'' UNI
