Committee to be constituted to implement master plan
Panaji, Nov 26 (UNI) A committee will soon be constituted to implement the master plan for giving a facelift to Old Goa, once the Capital of the Portuguese empire and now housing a slew of World Heritage Monuments.
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat made this observation when he called on Fr Savio Baretto, Rector of Basilica of Bom Jesus, in Old Goa.
The committee, he said, would also include representatives of the Archdiocese. He was also keen that the basic amenities were augmented at the complex to facilitate the tourists.
Scores of pilgrims started visiting the Old Goa Church Complex since November 24 for novenas and the feast of St Francis Xavier that ends on December 3.
Kamat was accompanied among others by the Chief Secretary J P Singh, DGP B S Brar, managing director, Goa Tourism Development Corporation Sanjit Rodriguesn besides Sarpanch Mrs Janita Madkaikar.
