ADB to develop hydel power in Bihar

The
Asian
Development
Bank(ADB)
has
shown
special
interest
in
development
of
hydel
power
in
Bihar
for
which
it
was
likely
to
undertake
extensive
survey
to
find
out
the
potential
in
the
river
basins.
Sources at the hydel power corporation said here today that the ADB would be conducting extensive survey in five river basins located in North Bihar. The sources said the ADB would identify the sites with potential for development of hydro-power projects.
According to the sources, the corporation had already signed an agreement with the ADB for construction of a hydel power in Kosi Basin after an extensive survey conducted by a central undertaking which came here to prepare the Detail Project Report (DPR).
The work would be initiated once the DRP was prepared.
The sources further informed that a survey had already been conducted at nine identified sites for construction of hydel project in the Kosi basin. The DPR would be prepared soon on the basis of the survey, sources added.
Outlining the work taken up by the corporation sources said, it had been able to commission Agnoor, Dhelabagh and Nasriganj small hydel projects.
