Andaman's mega carnival postponed by ten days

Port Blair, Nov 26 (UNI) The Andaman and Nicobar administration today postponed the islands' much awaited mega carnival, the Island Tourism Festival (ITF), by ten days due to administrative reasons.

In an official release of the Andaman Tourism department, Tourism Deputy Director Vinod Kumar said the ITF, 2007-08, which was earlier scheduled to be held from January 5 to 12, will now held from January 15-21.

Besides renowned Bollywood artists and poets, the Andaman and Nicobar administration would invite nearly 300 cultural and folk dance artists for the festival.

Various events, including baby shows, dog shows, flower shows and competitions for school students, would be organised at the Port Blair Exhibition Ground, which would be the main centre for the ITF.

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a chain of 572 small and big islands, including islets, offer some of the most serene and clear beaches of the world for tourists.

India's lone active volcano - Bareen Mud Volcano of Baratang, turtle nesting and the Cellular Jail are some of the other important attractions of these virgin islands.
