2 killed as speeding oil tanker hits bullock cart

Eluru,Andhra Pradesh, Nov 26 (UNI) Two persons were killed and two others seriously injured when the bullock carts they were travelling were hit by an oil tanker near Kaikaram Village, 40 km from here, on the Chennai-Kolkatta National Highway this morning.

According to police, Neelam Radhakrishna (40), Kalagala Peddiraju (40), Neelam Srinu(30) and Vaddi Satyanarayana (35), all farmers from Duddepudi Village in Bhimadole Mandal, were going to Tadepalligudem on three bullock-carts this morning around 0530 hrs to purchase fodder for the cattle.

When the bullock-carts reached near Kaikaram Village under Bhimadole Police Station limits, a speeding oil tanker going towards Tadepalligudem hit the carts from the rear.

While Neelam Radhakrishna (40) was killed on the spot, Kalagala Peddiraju succumbed to injuries on way to hospital. Two others who received serious injuries were admitted to Eluru Headquarters Government Hospital where their condition was said to be critical.
