Series of slight quakes hit Koyna region in Mah

A
series
of
light
quakes,
of
intensity
ranging
from
3.8
to
4.3
on
the
richter
scale,
hit
the
Koyna
region
of
Maharashtra
this
evening,
the
India
Meteorological
department
said.
The first quake of 4.3 intensity on the Richter scale hit the Koyna region at 1628 hours. The quake was epicentred at 17 degree N Latitude and 74 Degree E Longitude.
This was followed by a quake of 3.8 intensity, which hit the region at 1706 hours and was epicentered at 17.1 Degree N Latitude and 73.8 Degree E Longitude.
The third quake, again measuring 3.8 on the richter scale, hit Koyna at 1805 hours and was epicentered at 17.1 Degree N Latitude and 73.8 Degree E Longitude.
No casualties were, however, reported in the quakes, the met office said.
