Renuka Fair concludes in HP

Shimla, Nov 24 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Governor V S Kokje today said that fairs and festivals are a symbol of the state's rich cultural heritage, which need to be preserved at all cost.

Presiding over the concluding function of the five-day long Renuka Fair at Renukaji in Sirmaur district, he said Lord Parshuram had deep knowledge of scripture and theology besides obtaining knowledge and dexterity in warfare strategy and the use of weapons.

Renukaji has its own religious sanctity. Moreover the people from within and outside the state visit Renukaji to pay their obeisance, he said.

Mr Kokje said glimpse of our rich culture and heritage could be seen in such festivals, which also go a long way in strengthening bonds of brotherhood and fraternity.

The preservation of culture was very important for development of society, he said and added that young generation should be made aware of these traditions.

Earlier, the Governor performed a pooja in Lord Parshuram temple and Mata Renuka temple and also participated in the 'Dev Vidai' procession.
