Ramakrishna Mission awarded for contribution to crisis management

New Delhi, Nov 24 (UNI) The Ramakrishna Mission was today honoured by the Association of Medical Doctors of Asia and the Gandhi Ashram Reconstruction Trust for their contribution in areas of disaster and crisis management.

Also honoured for the GART-AMDA award 2007, conferred at the Gandhi Ashram here, was the Edhi Foundation of Pakistan.

The awards were presented by Dr Nirmala Deshpande, President of the GART and AMDA President Shigeru Suganami to the Additional Secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission Swami Suvirananda.

On behalf of the Edhi foundation, Begum Bilquis recieved the award.

The award ceremony marked culmination of the AMDA's 20th International conference which brough together several doctors, volunteers and NGO workers from about 15 countries to share and discuss experiences in the field of emergency relief.
