Printing
of
small
denomination
currency
notes
of
Re
1,
Rs
2
and
Rs
5
has
been
stopped
and
instead
these
denominations
have
been
coinised
in
view
of
the
lesser
circulation
life
of
notes.
However, Reserve Bank said currency notes of these small denominations already in circulation have not been withdrawn and these continue to be valid tenders.
There is no shortage of coins of these denominations in the market, it added.
