NCM member calls on Sonia on Guru Purab

New Delhi, Nov 24 (UNI) Representatives of the Sikh Community led by National Commission for Minorities (NCM) member Harcharan Singh Josh today called on UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi at her 10 Janpath residence as part of celebration on the birthday of Guru Nanak Dev.

Coveying her best wishes to the Sikh leaders on the day, Ms Gandhi said, Guru Nanak had propagated universal brotherhood and unity of mankind transcending the geographical and political boundaries which have vivificated the globe.

Guru Nanak stood for women's rights, equality and pluralism of the society as an obvious manifestation of mother nature everywhere, Ms Gandhi said.

The Sikh delegation presented her a portrait of Guru Nanak and a book on the Sikh philosophy and religious practices.
