Lawyers to abstain from work in protest of UP blast

Ranchi, Nov 24 (UNI) The lawyers across Jharkhand will abstain from their work on November 26 in protest of serial blasts in court premises in Uttar Pradesh.

The decision was taken at a meeting called today by the Jharkhand State Bar Council (JSBC).

JSBC Chairman P C Tripathy said the government should provide compensation of about Rs 10 lakh to the family of deceased and Rs 5 lakh to the injured in the blasts.

Mr Tripathy also demanded that adequate security should be provided to leagal officers and advocates throughout the state.

About 16 people including advocates were killed in yesterday's blasts.
