GSU opposes SWA agitation for new district

The
Garo
Students'
Union
(GSU)
has
decided
to
oppose
the
proposed
36-hour
shutdown
called
by
Social
Welfare
Assocation
(SWA),
demanding
a
new
district
in
the
plain-belt
region
of
West
Garo
Hills
in
Meghalaya.
The SWA has called for the non-cooperation movement from beginning Monday in demand for a new district, to be carved out for the plain-belt region from Tikrikilla in the north to Mahendraganj in the west, including the areas of Phulbari and Rajabala.
