CPI-M seeks debate on member misleading RS on Nandigram
New Delhi, Nov 23 (UNI) The CPI-M today made a vain bid to raise an issue in the Rajya Sabha regarding a member misleading the House on Nandigram firing, leading to adjournment of the House two days ago.
Soon after the conclusion of the Home Minister Shivraj Patil's reply, Mr Prashantha Chatterjee wanted to raise the issue of an MP misleading the House on firing that had not taken place but resulted in the in abrupt adjournment of the House. He was supported by some Samajwadi Party and other CPI-M members but Deputy Chairman K Rehman Khan denying permission to Mr Chatterjee said he could not allow a discussion on what had transpired in the House. ''Everything you raise in the House can't be alright. You have to give a notice and the Chair will examine it,'' he advised.
When the CPI-M insisted on raising the issue, the Chair noted that the Member was free to raise a privilege notice against the MP for misleading the House.
The Chair also allowed laying of the Specil Mentions in the House by the members present.
