PM condemns blasts, Patil says govt to fight terorrism resolutely

New Delhi, Nov 23 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today condemned the serial explosions in Uttar Pradesh and announced relief for the victims.

In a message sent from Kampala in Uganda where he has gone for the meeting of the Commonwealth of nations, the Prime Minister mourned the loss of lives and expressed concern for the injured.

Dr Singh has announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs one lakh for the next of kin of the dead and Rs 50,000 for the seriously injured from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.

Home Minister Shivraj Patil also condemned the blasts in three different cities of Uttar Pradesh and reiterated the government's decision to fight terrorism in a resolute manner.

''This is yet another attempt by anti-national elements to spread panic. I am confident that peace-loving people of the country will give a befitting reply to such elements.'' He said the Centre was in touch with the State Government to see if any assistance was required by them. He conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for speedy recovery of the injured.
