Bhopal, Nov 23: The International Tribal Film Festival, to be held in Indore from February 1, will screen various Indian and foreign films based on tribal life, art and culture.

''This will be the first event of its kind in India attended by filmmakers and other eminent personages. The fest is being organised by the state government undertaking Vanya and Mumbai's Indian Infotainment Media Corporation,'' state Tribal Welfare Minister Vijay Shah told newspersons here yesterday.

The three-day fest will be an annual affair and it is expected to receive over 200 entries.

When asked about the choice of Indore over the state capital, the minister pointed out that Indore and Jabalpur divisions had the maximum tribal population in the country.

'' The Antarrashtriya Puraskar, Rashtriya Puraskar, Adivasi Puraskar, Madhya Pradesh Filmkar Puraskar and Vidyarthi Puraskar will be awarded, tribal workshops organised and research papers presented,'' he added.
