Congress Chief Kharge favours Elections in Karnataka

Bangalore, Nov 23 (UNI) Ruling out formation of a government in Karnataka by joining hands with Janata Dal(S), State Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge reiterated that his party was for a fresh mandate from the people.

Speaking to newsmen here after holding a day-long meeting with state party leaders and office bearers here today he announced 'Jana Jagrithi Andholana' to create awareness among the people about the mis-rule of BJP and JD(S) government in the state would be launched at Chitradurga during first week of December. The party high command had already decided to go for elections and there was no change in the stand, he clarified.

A workshop on the process of enumeration of voters list would also be organised in which all the candidates contested in 2004 assembly elections from Congress, AICC members and District and Block congress presidents would be invited.

He hoped that the party's rank and file would co-operate to enroll over 10 lakh new members for the Youth Congress as instructed by Party leader and Lok Sabha member Rahul Gandhi.
