8th edition of B'lore Bio on April 2008
Bangalore, Nov 22: The eighth edition of Bangalore Bio, India's flagship Biotech event promoted by Karnataka government would be held here from April 24 to 26 next year.
The latest event, to be organised in a bigger way than never before, would focus on 'Global Partnership'.
Bangalore Bio, an international trade show, was an unique platform for bringing together national and international participants in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, educational and financial sectors to interact, network, showcase innovations and products and services to transform concepts into markets, Karnataka IT and BT Secretary M N Vidyashankar said here last night.
Speaking at the 'curtain raiser' function, he said, "After becoming an IT bellwether, India is now shifting its focus to biotechnology, the most promising industry of the future. It is innovation and new technology that will drive the future of biotechnology in India." Chairperson of Karnataka Vision group on Biotechnology and CMD of Biocon India Kiran Mazumdar Shaw said that the to meet the ever-growing demand of biotech sector, India had to build a knowledgeable and highly skilled work force.
The eagerness of young generation to get into biotech sector had enthused the industry to strive for more. Global partnership would enable the industry to take its biggest leap in terms of innovation, marketing strategies and funding growth, she said.
With the focus on innovation, the main conference session at Bangalore Bio 2008 would attract some of the leading scientists and industry leaders from across the globe.
The event highlights include international conference, bio partnering, agribiotech day celebrations, technical sessions, B2B meetings, poster session, trade show, CEO conclave and bio excellence awards.
